The Interstate Drone League (iDrone) promote STEM pipelines across the state and engage students to achieve their career goals.

  • 2015 Summer: Research Collaboration at USAFA, Colorado Springs, CO
  • 2016 Winter (11/15/2015):UAS Demonstration for Idaho Legislative Tour at Kibbie Dome

UI iDrone impacts more than 500 Idaho youth directly and indirectly, subsequently contributing UI enrollment in years to come.


  • 2020 Summer: UI iDrone Summer CAMP to be held in the Magic Valley, June 11 – 12. Classroom and outdoor facility at College of Southern Idaho (CSI) in Twin Falls has been reserved
  • 2020 Summer: UI iDrone Summer CAMP will take place in the Treasure Valley. This CAMP will target to underrepresented groups in the greater Boise areas.
  • 2020 Summer/Fall: UI iDrone Pro is planned to train Idaho Ag Producers and Extension Educator as part of Idaho Workforce Development Activities

The planned activities expect to impact more than 200 Idaho Youth (6th – 12th grade) and 50 Idaho Ag Producers.


  • 2021 Fall/Winter: Brainstorm Interstate Drone League to promote future workforce development across the multiple states (e.g., ID, OR, WA). Future workforce development funding will be pursue to sustain iDrone Program
  • 2021 Winter/2022 Spring: Develop Interstate Drone League between EPSCoR states (e.g., ID, NV, WY) to promote STEM pipelines in intermountain regions.
  • 2021: Brainstorm and develop the next level of iDrone toward STEM + ART + Sports (STEAMS). The iDrone 2 (Drone Soccer) is planned to increase student engagement to STEM Career
  • 2022 Spring: Integration iDrone and UI Curriculum (iDrone X program) to benefit UI students
